Beautiful piece. I had to fight to get the mammogram I had yesterday. The doctor had mumbled something last year about it being unnecessary. I fought back. I am a Black woman who did not have children and who had a maternal aunt, who had not have children, who was diagnosed with breast cancer. I had also had uterine cancer that was caught at Stage 0 by my incredibly experienced and perceptive OB/GYN on the infertility service of my rather well-known but oft maligned health maintenance plan.

Keep doing what you do as a health care writer. Too many of us do not have access to the care that saved your life and mine.
