I am going to be as gentle as possible here: the portrait of Michelle Obama, all by itself is enough. I have not seen it in person (will get to DC eventually) but the photographs to me are compelling. The image I see, especially with the sky blue background, is of woman as mountain. This is a woman who has achieved great things, reached great heights, so it makes sense to portray her at the top of something with nothing else in the background. The picture reminds me of sculpture and I found it compelling. Some of that had to do with being like Michelle, Black, female, attorney; most of the feeling was based on what I know of her work and how she went out her duties as First Lady.
