I am going to disagree with you about knowing the worth of our data. I have worked in advocacy for the poor my entire career. In order to get any type of benefit, an individual must as a condition of receiving assistance disclose a great deal of intimate personal information which is required by government agencies who have variable control over that information.

I am also working with a population who are only vaguely aware of the interconnectedness of computer data basis. Mistakes in the connections between these systems can result in a loss of benefits, false accusations of criminal conduct and worse.
