I worked for Legal Services for most of my career and I am somewhat semi-retired. What I know for sure having watched this nightmare for many years is that we desperately need to overhaul the laws on children, families and child welfare services. Where the courage and energy needed to get this done will come from, goddess knows. But starting the effort, and this tragedy may be a good place begin is critical.
