I worked with a woman who was involved in a single car accident. The EMT crew that arrived at the scene pronounced her dead and transported what they thought was a body to the morgue, which is where she woke up. Yes she had fractured her neck but she had not died. At the hospital she was found to have Stage 4 cancer that would have killed her had it gone undiagnosed. I can report that she survived cancer surgery and has some restored function after what is known in medical circles as an incomplete decapitation.
