Thank you for shining light on a significant and solvable problem. Reviewed the responses and have this comment: in the early 21st century we forget that until the 1940’s and the more widespread use of antibiotics, sanitary birth practices and in time the prevalence of hospital-based birth, infant mortality AND maternal mortality were the leading causes of death among children and women.

One of the most important factors in delaying marriage and early child-bearing are educational opportunities for girls. That needs to be a value even in American society and its subcultures.
