Thank you for writing this and for truly being a daughter of opportunity. My mother had a Phyllis in her life, Dr. Alice Smart, one of her professors at what was then Stowe Teacher’s College which is now Harris Stowe State College in the Missouri State College system in St. Louis. There is a long amazing legacy of Black women who help one generation to the next. Your point about the sorority sisters (poor misguided creatures) was intriguing to me. Perhaps that’s because my experience of sororities was from the Black American experience. Gotta be a way to bring some of that to students who attend schools like the one you attended. Keep going, you are doing amazing.
