The person who most confirmed me in my pro-choice believes was a woman named Annabelle who lobbied for choice with the California State Legislature in the early 1980s for the Religious Coalition for Abortion Rights. I hope they still exist. Annabelle was such a calm dignified woman and her story was heart-breaking. During a wanted pregnancy, the fetus died. Annabelle was already a young mother with children who needed her and a pregnancy that would cause her death or worse if it was not resolved medically. Finally a doctor was willing to do what was necessary to save her life and allow her to continue to be mother to her children.

I can only imagine what it is to have to separate yourself from your parents, family and friends over a point of principle. Thank you for your courage and your honesty. In sisterhood.
