The situation you are describing is not unique. A few years ago I attended a conference for criminal attorneys handling death penalty and other serious felony cases. At the final plenary session, I noticed that in a room that seated about 200 people, I could count the number of Black attorneys (ok people who pretty visibly looked to be Black) on two hands with fingers to spare. This included the speaker. I made a point of mentioning this to him after the presentation, which I enjoyed.

The real issue is the pipeline, in tech, in law, in medicine, even politics.
