Two books you may want to read both by Lady Antonia Fraser. The first is The Weaker Vessel about the lives of women between the reign of Elizabeth I and Queen Anne. The second is The Warrior Queens which has very interesting chapters on the warrior queens of the 20th century Golda Meir, Indira Gandhi and Margaret Thatcher.
